Recycled jeans pant into a hand bag

Materials needed:

Old jeans pant

Scissors

Black strap-3 mts. approximately

Beads

Rings

Time required- 2 hrs

Making:

I used old jeans pant for this project . On leaving 14 inches from the top ,I made a cut for the height of the bag. The width of the bag depends upon the pant .I stitched the bottom . The black strap was used to make handles for the bag.I also stitched one more flap using jeans material .This gives really a nice look to the bag .I decorated with beads and jeans patches to hide the pockets on both sides .Now the hand bag gets ready for a shopping!!!!

Multipurpose pen stand using Recycled Water Bottles

Materials Needed:

Use 1 lit water bottle (7 nos)

Scissors

Fabric- Required quantity

Making

Mark 14 cm height from the bottom of the water bottle .Cut it with scissors carefully. To make the edges smooth, roll the bottle with fabric or paper or cello tape .Here I used 9 cm height of fabric and the excess fabric is to be inserted inside the bottle . This makes the bottom part of the bottle transparent . Then join one bottle with the other by using hair pin or by stitching or tie it with fancy ribbon. After joining all the 7 bottles we can store enough pens ,pencils, erasers, scales, gum tubes, paper cutters , etc . You can also use this in dining tables to store spoons, knives , forks ,napkins ,etc. Even kids can try this out and enjoy!!!

Recycling old bed spread – (Type 2)

Material needed:

Old bed spread

Duppatta-2 nos.

Time required-3 hours

Making:

First I cut the duppattas according to my design. It takes 1 hr for me .Before that I measured the width and the length of the bed spread . Then I put the pieces one over the other on the old bed spread and I stitched it. After finishing the stitching I made a ½ inch fold on all 4 sides . This gives a new look .No one would say that it is an old bed spread .

It is a great idea to make an old bed spread into a new one.If anyone had used this technique please send the images of your new bed spreads to me.

Happy Sewing…….

recycled projects

These three projects are made from Thanks giving bag commonly known as Thambulam Bag made from lining material

Approximate time :1 Hour

The wind mill is made from 2 different colour. 8 inch by 8 inch

The 4 pointed star is made from 2different colour.9 inch by 9 inch material.

The 8pointed cone type toy (killukilupai) is required 50 inch length and 1 inch wide material.Since the bag length is small we have to join the pieces, then make a fold lengthwise and stich before doing it.
